Culture Acquisition in Korea and It’s Off-handed Dismissal

The question of what is culture comes about so frequently in these culturally blurred times. Young people in South Korea grow up in a world of hamburger restaurants and coffee shop chains and accept these as part of their culture. The activities they do on a daily basis have evolved around the products that have become available to them. Baseball has become so ingrained into the culture of this country that if you tried to explain that is was implanted here they would barely comprehend you. A brief walk down the street and you are likely to encounter t-shirts emblazoned with American Universities, brands, sporting teams or catchy English phrases that the wearer lacks the complete meaning of.
