Ah Bologna…

Amo l'Italia

The first time I arrived in Bologna, I queued for the city bus outside the airport terminal, boarded and presented the driver with a 10 Euro note.  He wouldn’t accept it.  Thinking the denomination was too large, I disembarked and spotted a girl with a 50 Euro note.  I raised my eyebrows and said…”Don’t think he’ll accept that.”  Anyway, found a shop back inside the terminal, grabbed the cheapest chocolate I could find, went to the counter and presented the same note.  The lady shook her head.  In that split second that I had to assess the situation, I was thinking, “OMG, are you kidding?  Where on earth am I going to get enough change to make everyone happy?  What is this??”  By this time, the lady in the shop was still shaking her head and in much better English than my Italian she said, “I’m sorry, we only take…
